Zalto glasses are mouth-blown in Austria by skilled glassblowers. This is not marketing — it genuinely results in a thinner, more uniform glass than machine production allows. The Zalto Universal weighs around 80g. A comparable Riedel machine-made glass weighs 120–150g. You feel the difference the moment you pick it up.
The bowl geometry is based on three angles of the Earth's axis: 24°, 48°, and 72°. Whether or not you believe this is responsible for the performance, the result is a bowl that opens wine beautifully. Aromas concentrate and lift. The rim is thin enough to disappear when drinking.
