The Zalto Denk'Art Balance is the newest shape in Zalto's lineup (2024), built for wines that don't fit the classic "big red" or "delicate white" mould — natural wines, orange wines, and other bottlings with pronounced tannin, texture or oxidative character. It's shorter than the Bordeaux or Burgundy, mouth-blown in the same lead-free crystal, and solves a real gap rather than adding a shape for its own sake. Drink mostly classic reds and whites? Start with the Universal instead.

Why this shape exists
Natural, low-intervention and orange wine went from a niche to a real category over the last decade — and those wines often behave differently in the glass than a clean, conventional red or white. Skin-contact whites carry tannin. Low-sulfur reds can show oxidative or funky notes that a classic Bordeaux or Burgundy bowl either exaggerates or fights against.
The Balance is Zalto's answer: a bowl shorter and more compact than the Bordeaux or Burgundy, shaped to soften phenolic grip and integrate texture rather than lift fruit and aroma the way their other shapes do. It's still mouth-blown by hand in Austria from the same lead-free crystal as the rest of the Denk'Art line — the difference is entirely in what the bowl is built to tame.
